Developing Faith

Choose to do it
We believe and therefore we speak- Speaking God’s Word
Faith and patience to inherit the promise
Patience involves people-Works involves people

Matthew 5:14-16(NLT)
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

James 2:17(NKJV)

17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Ergon- an act or deed(works)

James 2:21-24(NLT)
21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.
23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”[g] He was even called the friend of God.[h]
24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.

James 1:2-4(NKJV)

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be [b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:2-3(NLT)

2 Dear brothers and sisters,[a] when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

Hebrews 6:12(NLT)

12 Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.

Faith-Patience( endurance)- Works

Developed faith will require patience and action(works)

Matthew 5:14-16(NLT)

Matthew 5:23-24(TPT)

23.  “So then, if you are presenting a gift before the altar and suddenly you remember a quarrel you have with a fellow believer,

24.  leave your gift there in front of the altar and go at once to apologize to the one who is offended. Then, after you have reconciled, come to the altar and present your gift.

Philippians 2:3-4(NLT)
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Philippians 2:12-15(NLT)

12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.
13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
14 Do everything without complaining and arguing,
15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
