The Lighthouse Statement of Faith

GOD – We believe in one God: omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and the eternal Creator and Sustainer of all things; one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matt 28:19, 2 Cor 13:14)

HOLY BIBLE – We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the Word of God. Every word is divinely inspired by God and is the final authority in determining doctrinal truths and instruction. (2 Tim 3:16, Proverbs 30:5, Romans 16:25-26, 1 Cor 2:13, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

TRINITY – We believe in one God coexisting in three unique, distinguishable persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one and exist indivisible and coeternal. (Gen 1:26, Matt 3:16-17, Matt 28:19, 2 Cor 13:14)

GOD THE FATHER – We believe in God the Father: Creator of all things, holy, loving, merciful, just, and the first person of the Trinity. We believe the only way to the Father is through the Son, Jesus Christ. (John 14:6, Gen 1:26, John 3:16)

JESUS CHRIST – We believe Jesus Christ is God and the only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and lived on earth 100% God and 100% man. Jesus lived a sinless life on earth, performed miracles, and is the Word of God from the beginning. He pre-existed with God in the form of God and freely humbled Himself to become an atoning sacrifice for sin to those who believe, by dying on the cross and shedding His blood. He set the captives free, rose on the third day, ascended to the right hand of God the Father, and intercedes for the saints. He is the mediator between God and man. (John 1:1,14; John 20:28; 1 Tim 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Tim 2:5)

HOLY SPIRIT – We believe the Holy Spirit is God and the third person of the Trinity. He came to convict the world of sin, to counsel, to comfort, to lead His people into truth, and to empower and enable believers to live in a way that honors God the Father. Believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. (Gen 1:2, John 14:26, Romans 8:26, Isaiah 11:2, 1 Cor 2:13, Eph 1:13)

SALVATION – We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The only way to the Father is through the Son; the only way for eternal salvation is accepting the atoning sacrifice that Jesus accomplished on the cross through the shedding of His blood. There are no human works that can accomplish salvation. (Eph 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 16:31, Hebrews 9:22, Romans 5:10)

REDEMPTION – We believe man was created perfect in God’s image; but by choosing to sin, man fell from his sinless state, allowing universal infiltration of sin into individual lives and human society. Therefore, all men are sinners by nature and choice; but our only hope of redemption lies in the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Gen 1:26-31, Gen 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21)

REGENERATION – We believe those saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ are new creations, re-birthed in the Spirit. (2 Cor 5:17, Titus 3:5, John 3:6-7, John 1:12-13)

RESURRECTION – We believe Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead on the third day, ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God where He intercedes for the saints. (Matt 27:33-37, Romans 8:34)

ATONEMENT/JESUS’ BLOOD – We believe that Jesus Christ was the atoning sacrifice for our sins and that the Blood of Jesus is 100% sufficient to cleanse us of all our sins. Jesus shed His blood on the cross in order to accomplish salvation to those who believe. (Romans 3:25, 1 John 1:7, Hebrews 9:22, Matt 26:28)

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers to build, to edify, to demonstrate, and confirm the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The gifts of the Spirit function today, and believers are to seek spiritual gifts as directed by Scripture. The gifts of the Holy Spirit produce fruit of the Spirit and are to operate within Biblical parameters. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts according to His will and as a manifestation of Himself for the profit of all. (1 Cor 12:1-13, 1 Cor 14:1-40, 1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12: 6-8, 1 Tim 1:6-7, Hebrews 2:4)

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – We believe that upon salvation through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit resides in the heart of the believer and seals them unto the Lord. We believe that being baptized in the Holy Spirit is an additional impartation that empowers the believer and usually is accompanied by manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. (Matt 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33, Acts 1:5, Acts 11:16)

WATER BAPTISM – We believe in being baptized by immersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is a public display of faith and done as an act of obedience to Christ. (Matt 28:19, Acts 2:34-39, Acts 19:1-6)

THE LORD’S SUPPER – We believe in taking Communion as a unique time with the Lord where the elements of the broken bread and the cup of wine are taken as a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross and as a proclamation of His death until He comes. The bread, representing the body of Christ, and the wine, representing the blood of Christ, are to be taken as directed by Scripture. (1 Cor 10:16-17, 1 Cor 11:17-26)

HEALING OF THE SICK – We believe that God heals and uses us to heal as given in the commission of Jesus to His disciples and as a sign that follows believers. Healing was accomplished by Jesus on the Cross, and it is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. (Psalm 103:2-3, Isaiah 53:5, Matt 8:16-17, Mark 16:18, Acts 8:6-7, James 5:14-16, 1 Cor 12:9, 1 Cor 12:28, Romans 11:29)

HEAVEN – Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all those who believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have received Him as Savior and Lord. (Matt 6:20-21; John 17:24; 2 Cor 5:1, 6-8; Philippians 1:21-24; Hebrews 11:16; 1 Peter 1:4)

HELL – Hell is the eternal place of damnation for unbelievers who have stood before God at the Great White Throne and have been found guilty because of their lack of the blood covering of Jesus. They will be eternally separated from God and eternally tormented in hell with Satan and his fallen angels. (Matt 25:41, Mark 9:43-48, Hebrews 9:27, Rev 14:9-11, Rev 20:12-15, Rev 21:8)

THE SECOND COMING – Jesus Christ will physically take His rightful throne as King of kings and Lord of lords and will establish His Kingdom on this earth. (Matt 24:30, Matt 26:63-64, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, 2 Thess 1:7, Rev 1:7)

FAITH – We believe that faith is vital for salvation through Christ, but it is also vital in all Kingdom issues. Faith is what allows us to please God and move away from our sinful nature. Faith is only truly gained by an ever increasing personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matt 17:20, Matt 21:21, Hebrews 11:1, 1 Cor 15:14-17, Eph 2:8, Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6, Romans 14:23)
